The NHIE is a mandatory 200 question test to obtained your license in the state of Ohio. The NHIE is just like state boards for nurses or the bar exam for lawyers and has a 60% fail rate. Its the only independent accredited nation exam for home inspectors.
Becoming licensed in Ohio is more extensive than many other states. Requirements include : State approved course with over 80 hours of education, 40 hours of a curriculum of experience and a peer review, passing the state exam followed by the NHIE and becoming a member of a professional home inspection organization (which includes its own set of testing) and a number of continues education hours each year.

· Pass InterNACHI’s Certified Professional Inspector Examination;
· Complete InterNACHI’s Code of Ethics Course

· Sign an affidavit to become a Certified Professional Inspector
